I’ve only been back for like two weeks or so and it already feels like I’ve been at Trinity for a long time. Second semester is underway and things are rocking. For this post, I wanted to give you a day in the life of a college student.
It’s Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Unlike first semester, I actually go to sleep at midnight and this Monday night was no different. Knowing that I have no other time to do homework, I set my alarm for 6:30 am. The alarm goes off; it’s not my phone alarm because I missed that too many times last semester. I get started with homework. I read some for Introduction to International Relations. While it is a lot of reading, I do it because this semester is different. First semester, I didn’t do homework ahead of time. This semester, I am keeping up with my work but there is so much, it’s almost driving me crazy. I can’t actually complain because I have awesome classes. My Intro to IR class proves to me that I am going to major in Political Science with a concentration on International Relations. My publics, mobs and masses class has so much reading. For the weekend, I had some 30 pages on Freud and Le Bon. Development in Africa may be like block day in high school but it’s definitely worth it. I am getting exposed to French authors and movies in Advance Composition and Grammar. I can now write a letter and do a close analysis of a poem. This is my smallest class of six students so I actually have to speak and pay attention. Calculus is like high school calc except for it has less work and it’s not at 6:50 am.
After doing homework and getting ready, I go eat a huge breakfast in like 15 minutes. 11:00 am comes around and I am working at the community daycare until 2 pm. I go back to my dorm and from 2:55-4:10, I am in publics, mobs and masses taking a look at how crowds are irrational. If you ask why I chose this class, let me tell you that it’s in the political department class and in the political theory concentration. After class, I have like 2 hours until my next class. From 6:30-9:10, I am in Development in Africa. After class though, my night is not over. Since I am involved with Banquet, a nondenominational student led church service; I head to chapel at 9:30. I am also speaking tonight so I had to make sure to write something. We do the service and then head to a diner for some food and bonding time. Before I know it, it’s midnight and I am back at Trinity, ready to go to bed and start another day.
