The latest adventures...

My first week of college is over. I am still alive and ready to start a new week. I haven't had some new revelation so I'll just fill you in the latest adventures of Salima's life:
  • We had a carnival during orientation and it was quite fun. Over and over, I was reminded how you can never be too old to enjoy playing like a kid
  • Hartford is an interesting town! It's got a history that I am excited to learn next semester though I may just learn more than I want to
  • Monday, I tried stepping and quickly learned that it may not be the thing for me. This was also the night where I signed up for too many clubs at the activities fair
  • My classes are going great! I have such a great schedule. I don't have to wake up before 9:00 am and I am done by 2:30 at the latest.
  • The chapel here reminds me of home. I met another Lutheran, who went to the youth gathering in 2009, had the same bag that I got and knew the Lutheran songs
  • I got to sing sanctuary and it reminded me of TVLYFE
  • It rained like crazy for the three days straight
  • I made an awesome tie dyed shirt
  • I interviewed for a job and got it. I'll be a teacher associate for 10 hours a week
  • We had a welcome back dance and it was great to see how we're all connected through music.
  • I got to see how funny drunk people are, what a frat party looks like and the time called 2 o'clock in the morning
  • I learned that I can sleep through loud music if I am really tired
  • I learned what a great time volunteering can be... especially at Juniper's House. I may have to go back
  • Finally, I learned that Hartford is a sketchy town, where you'll wake up to fire trucks and other loud noises
I must get back to my homework/sleeping but I wanted to update you all on what I am doing. College is fun! It's interesting! It makes you find yourself as you are left with so many choices!

  1. Hi Salima!! Wow! A week already! It sounds like you are having a great time. Glad you met another Lutheran from the youth gathering. Also neat that you were able to get a job! Not easy these days. We've had fairly nice weather here. It is just starting to get cooler at nights which is nice. Sunday school started last week with Rally Sunday. The kids seemed to have lots of fun! Beatrice came with Nona Vernon last night to choir. It was great to have her there. I miss all you guys that have gone off to college. Hope it continues to go well for you! Take care & God Bless! Nicki
