- I am very impressed by the people who have the courage to get through the doors as they are closing on the Metro. I don’t know if I am a coward or if I have too much time on my hand but you won’t catch me running into the cars at the last minute. There’s also the part where I would fall and embarrass myself.
- It’s been two months and I still need my Paris guide for certain places. This city is big enough that it would take me years to get it down. Whereas in Boise and Hartford I could give people directions, I don’t even try that here.
- I wonder why people think that French people wear berets because unless I am blind, I have not seen anyone wearing a beret. Now, I have seen many people with a baguette or two in their arms, probably fresh from the boulangerie and I understand why. They are delicious!
- Paris is expensive as a city so if you are coming here, especially as a student with limited resources, you better get good at budgeting. Gone are the days where $10 a month was enough to do laundry.
- Lastly, be careful about responding to people asking if you speak English, especially in the super touristy areas like the Champs-Élysée. There are some who are tourists just asking for directions and others who are going to ask for money.
