One of
the weirdest things coming back home from college is finding out where you fit
in. Obviously, everyone else has had to replace you or shift roles because you
left and so when you come back, it’s weird to find out where you belong. For
me, I’ve come home and my sisters and parents are here. My sisters had to take
over the jobs that I had to do. Now that I am back, I am not a guest. Do I take
over my old chores or do I lounge around kind of like a guest? Being a good sister,
I do my best to help out around the house, doing whatever needs to be done but
also lounging because I am a tired college kid.
The
important part for me has been acknowledging the fact that things change and
that’s the way of life. I am no longer in high school! I just finished my first
year of college! While things can’t go back to what they used to be, that’s not
an issue. I am the college kid who is still part of this family. While I may be
gone for most of the year, once I come back, I can be a productive member
again.
It was
weird coming back and trying to figure out where I fit in with my four crazy
sisters who I hadn’t seen for a while, but all is well! I am just the older
sister who went to college and who they get to see on Skype and in real life
during the breaks.
