To All the Women in My Life.............

Happy International Women’s Day everyone! Today’s post is dedicated to all the women in my life especially my aunt and grandmother.

This week has been an emotional roller coaster but I believe that everything will all work out. The rebels came back, for like the 4th or 5th time. Each time they come back, we know that death is what they are bringing. After having stolen documents and taken all the money my grandparents had, what else do they need? They want to kill them.

I have spent more time than I ever want to looking at the immigration websites for both the US and Canada. I have also called so many numbers in Canada only to be told that the process of bringing my aunt would be easier if I lived in Canada.

Where do we stand? They are still in Congo, not at their home because that’s too dangerous. We are still fighting for them. The last place I called told me that this was an immigration issue and as I have learned this past week, the immigration system needs a reform. A lot of people need to come to the United States, only having to wait 10 or something years before getting that opportunity. Apparently though, with a good immigration lawyer, things could be expedited. What does that mean? The solution isn’t simple and getting them here is going to be a battle that we shall win.

Today is a day for my mom, my grandmother, my aunt, my other aunts and all the other women in my life. We shall be fighting for you so that your bodies will be protected and that no shall destroy your beautiful temple, all in the name of war.
