Just waiting...

I'm back to civilization, where people take showers and don't get infected by ticks. After spending a week out in the wild, I am so glad to be back on campus, even as we wait for Hurricane Irene. Quest was awesome! It's a preorientation program where freshmen can spend 4 days or 9 days out in the woods getting to know other freshmen and upper classmen. I was in the intermediate group with some amazing people. After spending the weekend with my dad's friends, who were great, I was kind of nervous to A. Go out hiking and B. Going hiking with new people. I had a great time though meeting new people, playing big booty, wahhhh, and other games. There were moments when the hiking made me question why I signed up but I kept on pushing through. My favorite memory will always be the last night when our bedding got infested with ticks. Our group proceeded to drown them in bugs spray or jus killed them with our hands. Quest for me was a success! I am thankful to all our leaders and the amazing freshmen I met.
Now, I am on campus hanging out with international kids. Trinity is closed because of Hurricane Irene but me and a couple of other people who can't go home are staying. We have really bonded as we spent time at the International House. We are even sharing what we have because we can't go shopping. I just got told that I am welcome to the I-House, so I will have the opportunity to eat delicious Congolese food, if I cook it. It's awesome to hear from these kids where they are from and how they ended up at Trinity of all places. For the next couple of days though, I am going to just be waiting for this Hurricane to do its thing and for college to start.
